About CBSE

The Union Government of India oversees the CBSE, or Central Board of Secondary Education, a governing body for secondary schools across the country. In 1921, the government of India formed the UP Board of High School and Intermediate Education, which had authority over Rajputana, Central India, and Gwalior; in 1929, the government of India established a Joint Board with the name Board of High School and Inter Education, Rajputana. After a few years, it was limited to Ajmer, Bhopal, and Vindhya Pradesh. This initially included Ajmer, Merwara, Central India, and Gwalior. It becomes a CBSE model in 1952. There are 587 Jawahar Novodhaya Vidyalayas, 13657 Independent Schools, 1113 Central Schools, 2635 Government/Aided Schools, 14 Central Tibetan Schools.

The Board has set up Regional Offices across the country to be more accessible to the affiliated schools and carry out its duties more efficiently. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has regional offices in numerous cities across India, including Allahabad, Ajmer, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Dehradun, Delhi, Guwahati, Panchkula, Patna, and Trivanthapurm.
