Eligibility Criteria

Only residents of the district in which Navodaya is located may apply. Students should have successfully completed classes 3, 4, and 5 previously in their academic careers.

For Class VI
  • The candidate’s age must be between 9 and 13 years old.
  • Because the rules state that there should be no gaps in consecutive years of study, no candidate is eligible to take the selection test a second time under any conditions.
  • At least 75% of the district’s seats will be filled by candidates from rural areas, with the remaining 25% filled by candidates from metropolitan areas.
  • A candidate claiming the rural quota must have completed the third, fourth, and fifth grades at a rurally established school.
  • Candidates enrolled in the National Institute of Open Schooling programmes must present a rural status certificate issued by the District Magistrate/Tehsildar/BDO.
  • Before admission to Navodaya, candidates must present a medical certificate from any government-aided hospital.
  • Because Navodaya focuses on broad trends, applicants must provide an affidavit of agreement on policies such as migration.

For Class IX
  • Individuals applying must be between the ages of 13 and 16.
  • All applicants must have completed eight grades at a government or government-aided school.

Navodaya Vidyalaya Application Form 2023 Process
